Diversity & Inclusion Conference - LGBTQ+ Session (Part 5 of 6 sessions)

Leeds Law Society in conjuction with the Law Society of England and Wales will be holding a virtual Diversity and Inclusion Conference to mark National Inclusion Week from 15th September 2020 to 1st October 2020. The conference will comprise of virtual sessions across six evenings, and will focus on a particular strand of diversity and inclusion: Mental Wellbeing, Social Mobility, Gender, Disability, LGBTQ+, Race and Ethnicity.  
The events will vary from panel sessions made up of leading figures within a particular strand of diversity and inclusion to individual talks from notable  individuals within the legal sector. The events will also offer guidance on the business case for diversity and inclusion as well as offering firms and other organisations hints and tips on diversity and inclusion best practice. 
This is an ambitious event and the first of its kind ever to be held by a regional law society. It is the largest series of events which Leeds Law Society have held virtually, allowing members to access the content from the comfort of their own home as well as others from across the country.
The aim of Leeds Law Society and the Law Society of England and Wales by hosting this conference is to tackle head-on the complex and difficult issues facing individuals,firms and organisations across a variety of diversity and inclusion strands, as well as the promotion of diversity and inclusion within the legal sector.

At this event  we have the pleasure of welcoming Sir Terence Etheron, Master of the Rolls, who will talk about his personal experiences. Emma Dunn from H M Land Registry will also be speaking about the challenges of being inter-sex and will be joined by Dr Mitchell Travis (University of Leeds) and Dr. Fae Garland (University of Manchester) who will discuss the stance of the law. Scott Halliday from The Law Society of England and Wales will be offering some best practice top tips and we will also be joined by an exciting new student network, Queer Lawyers of Tomorrow. This event is one not to miss!
