The Law Society Ethics Roundtable

The Law Society, together with Sheffield and Leeds Local Law Societies, would like to invite you to a free ethics roundtable discussion on 24 October at one of the following:
Sheffield Local Law Society, 12:00 – 14:00 (8 Campo Lane, Sheffield, S1 2EF)
Leeds Local Law Society, 16.15 – 18.15 (62 Wellington Street, Leeds, LS1 2EE)
The discussions will be led by Paul Wilson, Head of Regulatory Affairs at the Law Society, with expert academic input from Joan Loughrey, Professor of Law, University of Leeds.
The subjects under discussion will include:
  • Are professional ethics in law under particular pressure at this time?
  • How realistic or advisable is it for legal professionals to admit their own mistakes?
  • Is there a relationship between risk management, mistakes and profitability?
  • How should lawyers operate in situations where what is permitted by law does not accord with what is acceptable to the public?
The session will include a short introduction to the Law Society’s interactive ethical scenarios by the Law Society’s Policy Adviser on ethics. There will also be refreshments and time allowed for networking.
To book your place at the table, please email by 28 September 2018, stating which roundtable you would like to attend, Sheffield or Leeds.  (Please note places are limited.)
