Discussion with SRA & LSB

A private discussion between Senior Partners and the SRA and LSB at Leeds Law Society on Tuesday 7 November - 5.00pm – 7.00pm (drinks will be provided)
The SRA will be represented by Crispin Passmore and the LSB by Neil Buckley.
This will be an open discussion about the regulation of the profession and how that impacts on law firms in Leeds, thus facilitating dialogue on any wider issues.  As we anticipate that there will be a lot of questions we are asking for them to be submitted in advance in order that we can ensure that those of the most relevance and the widest interest are put forward first.
If you are unsure about what issues to raise here are some suggestions:
  • New rule book (following on from decisions to amend the accounts rules and agree new principles and separate codes for solicitors and regulated firms), the new rule book carries forward a much simpler approach to regulation and a shorter handbook that is easy to navigate and consistent. This consultation covers authorisation and practice framework rules, disciplinary rules, overseas rules and a new enforcement policy.
  • Increasing transparency for consumers, with consideration of improved transparency on complaints data, pricing and regulatory information to help consumers compare, choose and use legal services.

This is your chance to put questions directly to the regulatory bodies and to ensure that they hear your questions, issues and concerns.
Whilst intended to be a more regular event, this is dependent on sufficient numbers attending. Accordingly, whether you are a managing partner, a sole practitioner, a partner in a firm, or an in house solicitor, this event is relevant to you!
Please register your interest and send questions to by Friday, 27 October 2017.
