The perils and pitfalls of General Counsel

James Haddleton, from Haddleton Legal, has experience working in private practice and as a General Counsel and now advises in-house legal functions on how to improve their governance compliance and legal functions. James will provide his thoughts on some of the common challenges faced by in-house legal teams and how to navigate them successfully. He will also focus on:
  • The transition from private practice to in-house
  • The change from being an advisor to a decision maker
  • How to manage upwards and manage your resources
  • His experiences of working with in-house legal

Understanding your Finance Director

Financial reporting, making commercial decisions, liaising with investors, raising funding, mergers, sales and acquisitions, are just some of the activities undertaken by a Finance Director. This session will focus on understanding the role of the Finance Director and how in-house legal can
successfully work with the Finance Director for the benefit of the organisation as a whole.

A whistle-stop tour through Financial Statements

Financial statements can be daunting to non-accountants, but they needn’t be. This session will demystify income statements, balance sheets and cashflow statements by explaining what to look for and where to look without necessarily having to get behind all the numbers.
